The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) has the pleasure to announce that it is the First in Egypt, second in Africa and 4th in the MENA to become an Accredited member in the European Business Network (EBN).
The network opens up opportunities for local businesses to link up through the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) with organizations and facilities across Europe, as well as in other parts of the world which are members in EBN, to develop their services, products and markets. What is EBN?
The European Business & Innovation Centre Network (EBN) is a network of around 150 quality-certified EU|BICs (business and innovation centers) and 100 other organizations that support the development and growth of innovative entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs. EBN is also a community of professionals whose day-to-day work helps these businesses to grow in the most effective, efficient and sustainable way. As part of this international community of smart & specialized organizations, TIEC will be able better serve its clients, connect & coach innovators, entrepreneurs & SMEs to start, grow & transform our economies.
BICs are organizations which promote innovation and entrepreneurship. They help enterprises to innovate; they drive the creation of start-ups (support to innovation, incubation and internationalisation) and they promote economic development through job and enterprise creation and development.
The network is therefore an umbrella organization bringing together over 200 BICs from all around Europe and beyond. It provides help and support to these BICs by acting as an interface with other organizations including the European Commission (which officially recognizes EBN), by providing expertise in numerous areas including funding and by stimulating the sharing of best practices.
EBN follows closely the European Union Enlargement and Neighborhood Policies and is developing ‘hub and spoke’ networking connections with the rest of the world.
The EU-BIC Trademark
Since January 2002, EBN was awarded a trademark licensing contract from the European Commission, with DG Enterprise and Industry. This contract permits EBN to manage the license of the BIC European trademark. EBN has the mandate to grant, renew and withdraw these licenses on behalf of the European Commission.
EBN implements a certification and quality system enabling the development of a network of excellence through the integration of a quality approach. The BICs that have been granted the BIC trademark commit themselves to respect their obligations within the quality process of the network.
The EBN quality process adds value to the BIC trademark and to the organizations that have received the license (professionalism, performance, consistency, positioning). The quality process is built on three essential pillars within the network:
- total client satisfaction.
- capacity to implement, regional, national and community policies.
